Types of Physical Inventory:
Cycle Counting:
- Cycle Counting is a strategic Physical Inventory method designed for precise stock management by counting products at regular intervals—monthly, quarterly, or annually—based on business needs. Unlike traditional full stock counts, this method minimizes operational disruption while maintaining inventory accuracy.
- The frequency of counting is determined by the Cycle Counting Indicator in the Product Master, which automates the creation of Physical Inventory (PI) documents. The process follows:

⏳ Buffer Time – The grace period before the count is due - Key SAP T-Codes for Cycle Counting:

/n/scwm/Diff_Analyzer – Analyze differences and ensure accuracy
Periodic Counting:
Unlike Cycle Counting, Periodic Counting focuses on counting the entire inventory at scheduled intervals—monthly, quarterly, or yearly—based on business needs. This method helps businesses maintain accurate stock levels, reduce discrepancies, and ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Annual Counting:
Annual Counting is a comprehensive inventory check conducted once a year to validate stock accuracy, ensure compliance, and support financial audits. Unlike Cycle or Periodic Counting, this method provides a complete snapshot of inventory at year-end, making it essential for businesses aiming for precise financial reporting and stock control.
